Vehicle collides with Chicago church, where crashes have occurred before

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police continue looking for the driver blamed in a two-vehicle crash that sent one of the automobiles crashing into a church on Chicago's West Side.

Investigators say the driver of a Dodge Durango hit a Chevy Impala outside the Sanctuary of Deliverance Church on Harrison near Keeler.

Pastor Steve Stewart said the Impala crashed through metal barriers and into the church, damaging the media room.

Vehicles have hit his church previously, he said. Stewart said he's been asking the city to install traffic lights at Harrison and Keeler and make other improvements to reduce the risk.

Police say the driver of the Durango ran away after the crash, while two people in the Impala were injured and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

No one was at the church at the time of the crash, the pastor said.
