(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two people are dead and another is seriously hurt, after a vehicle hit a man and a woman and then hit a strip mall in Midlothian on Wednesday.

It happened in the parking lot outside an Illinois Secretary of State's facility near 145th and Pulaski, but the facility was not damaged.

Midlothian police tell CBS Chicago the driver may have had a medical event before hitting the two people and running into the strip mall.

The driver and the two pedestrians were taken to a hospital, where, the Cook County Medical Examiner said, 75-year-old Kathleen Coyne of Hometown and 80-year-old Thomas Coyne of Oak Lawn were pronounced dead.

An investigation continues.
