CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Video circulating on social media shows a man riding on top of a CTA train.

The video was shot by someone driving on the Dan Ryan. It shows a man sitting on top of a train car with his legs dangling between two cars.

Witness David Jackson spoke to CBS-2.

"You see a lot of stuff on the Red Line, but that right there took the cake."

Jackson said he was in the same car as the train surfer. He said he was glad the man didn't kill himself.

This kind of thing happens from time-to-time on the CTA. In New York, it's become a thing, fueled by social media.

There's a campaign there, urging people to "ride inside, stay alive."

The CTA says it's dangerous, irresponsible and illegal.
