WATCH: Batavia elementary school sets up over 700 cereal box dominoes with their donations to charity

Hundreds of boxes of cereal fell to the floor as students cheered in delight through the halls of Grace McWayne Elementary School. The cereal domino rally consisted of over 700 boxes of cereal prepared to be donated to the Adopt-A-Family program at Batavia United Way.

The organization takes food donations as well as other contributions. Batavia United Way has collaborated with the Batavia Public Schools to organize the 2022 Adopt-A-Family program. BPS staff have helped identify families in need and help those families create wish lists which are then sent to Batavia United Way.

In 2021, more than 80 sponsors adopted 145 families, including over 275 kids and provided thousands of dollars in holiday cheer to struggling families. Here’s where you can donate — and some other local organizations you can support too:
