CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Crews have fixed a break in the water main from Harvey but Dixmoor spokesman Travis Akin said there’s more work needed.

“The problem right now is the turbines that add pressure to what they get from Harvey, those have burnt up,” Akin told WBBM Newsradio.

Residents couldn’t shower and had to wait about 15 minutes for their toilet tanks to refill at the worst of the leak.

Akins said he isn’t sure when turbines will be fixed.

He said the village continues to make bottled water available.

Dixmoor’s council declared a state of emergency last week over a different mysterious leak that has evaded detection for nearly two years.
