Southwest suburban school district warns students about bringing weapons and toy weapons amid senior prank rumors

JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Joliet Township High School District is reminding students and parents about the consequences of bringing weapons or toy weapons to campus.

The announcement comes amid a rumored game between students involving using squirt guns to eliminate opponents.

In a letter to JTHS families, administration said that while senior pranks may seem harmless, some actions may be considered a violation of school rules.

The following items are not allowed on school property, because they are considered a weapon, according to school district policy.

-Airsoft/Pellet Gun
-Gel/Water Gun
-Gel/Orbeez Gun
-BB Gun
-Gun/Rifle
-Mace
-Brass Knuckles
-Kubaton
-Pocket Knife
-Taser
-Box Cutter

The letter also stated that "regardless of whether the student intends to use the item or not, they can face an expulsion recommendation and the involvement of the Joliet Police Department" if they bring to school.

Bringing items to school property that look like a gun or weapon is also prohibited.
