Late night hit-and-run leaves 56-year-old man dead; no one in custody

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 56-year-old man was killed late Sunday night in a hit-and-run crash in the West Lawn neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

Chicago police said the man was crossing the intersection of 64th Street and South Pulaski Road around 11:45 p.m. when it happened.

Witnesses told police a red Toyota Camry was traveling north on Pulaski Road at a high rate of speed when it struck the 56-year-old.

Officials said the man was declared dead at the scene.

No details were shared about the man’s identity.

The crash is being investigated as a homicide.

The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit is also investigating the crash.
