West Side bicyclist dies nearly 2 weeks after hit-and-run accident; Police still searching for driver

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A bicyclist who was the victim of a hit-and-run last month on the West Side has died.

Chicago police said the 55-year old bicyclist was hit by a car while riding in the 3500 block of West Washington Boulevard in the East Garfield Park neighborhood nearly two weeks ago.

Police are still trying to figure out who was driving the 1997 blue Lincoln Town Car, with the Illinois license plate ES85500.The rear license plate was missing a screw. Police said he appeared to be an African-American man who is about 50 years old and has gray facial hair.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identifies the victim as John Ward who lived a few blocks away from where he was hit.
