CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Christkindlmarket is set to return to later this month, and regular attendees may notice a few changes at this year’s festival — whether they’re attending in Chicago’s Daley Plaza, Gallagher Way or Aurora’s RiverEdge park.
All three Christkindlmarkets will open to the public on Nov. 17. The markets at Daley Plaza and RiverEdge Park will remain open through Christmas Eve, but the Wrigleyville market at Gallagher way will stay open through New Years’ Eve.
For those who plan on attending Christkindlmarket Chicago in Daley Plaza, the changes might start before you arrive. In response to what festival organizers said were longer wait times, Christkindlmarket Chicago will have a “Fast Entry Pass” lane for $25, with which patrons will get a dedicated entrance for entry into the market and the Stammtisch, a heated food hall.

Like most years, all three Christkindlmarkets will have brand new designs on their souvenir mugs. Each market’s mug features a snowy winter scene set at the specific location.
Another mug will make its debut in 2023: The Christkindlmarkets will provide a reindeer mug for non-alcoholic beverages.
Each market will have its own schedule of special events, but one of the highlights will be the “Twas the NIght Before Christkindlmarket Preview Party” on Nov. 16 at Daley Plaza, which will feature a live performance of Ballet 5:8’s “Beyond the Nutcracker.”
