(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — On Tuesday, the Chicago White Sox announced that their ballpark will go by a new name in 2025.
That new name drops the “Guaranteed” out of Guaranteed Rate Field, and will now go by just Rate Field.
The change in name comes after the sponsor changed their name from Guaranteed Rate to Rate earlier this year.
While the home of the White Sox may be best known as Comisky Park, the South Side ballpark has been called Guaranteed Rate Field since 2016, after the mortgage company bought the naming rights.
The name announcement was made on social media Tuesday.
The White Sox are looking to build a new home, and talks have included building a new ballpark at The 78.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker says he does not support the use of public funds to help build the stadium.
The team’s lease at Rate Field runs out in 2029.
