(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Willowbrook woman, whose case against Sterigenics is the first to go to trial, blamed the company for her breast cancer during her testimony on Thursday.

Sue Kamuda said she had no family history of cancer, ate healthy and was active outdoors before being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.  The now 70-year-old said she feels vulnerable after her lumpectomy and chemotherapy and is exhausted by daily activities.  She is one of about 700 neighbors and others suing Sterigencics, three years after the Illinois EPA shut down the medical equipment sterilizing company over ethylene oxide emissions.

Defense attorneys for Sterigenics are expected to argue her breast cancer could have come from a number of sources, pointing out Kamuda lives near a busy highway and a helipad.
