(WBBM NEWSRADIO) —A Jefferson Park man says he and his wife were threatened by a woman who drove her SUV through his garden — all because he’s been a frequent critic of the 45th Ward alderman.

For 45 years, Peter Czosnyka has lived on the Northwest Side.  He does not mince words about his dislike for Ald. Jim Gardiner.

On Friday evening, Czosnyka said, a woman drove by his house and screamed at his wife, “Tell your husband to stop following the alderman.”

Then he says she came back at 3:15 a.m. Saturday and drove through his lawn.

Czosnyka says his security camera recorded it, including the woman’s scream.

He ran outside.

“She makes a reverse U-turn onto my neighbor’s lawn. I reach in and grab her hair. I’m trying to defend myself against whatever she’s doing. Then I ripped out a piece of it, and she took off.”

Czosnyka estimates the woman $2,000 in damage to his property.

Police say no one is in custody, even though Czosnyka says he gave police the woman’s license plate number.

WBBM Newsradio has not received a return phone call from Gardiner’s office.
