(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A North Shore woman, who was accused of racially profiling a Black man in Winnetka back in 2020, has been sentenced to probation.

Irene Donoshaytis was originally charged with a hate crime, but as part of a deal with prosecutors, the 67-year-old pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to a year of probation.

Video of the August 2020 confrontation between Donoshaytis — a white woman — and Otis Campbell — a Black man — went viral.

Campbell recorded the video after Donoshaytis told him to leave a pier in Winnetka. Audio from Campbell's 2020 viral tweet showed Donoshaytis telling Campbell that the pier is not public and is only for “people who live in Winnetka.”

Donoshaytis appears to get more agitated as Campbell records the video. After some back and forth between the two, Donoshaytis asks Campbell if he wants to “kill” her.

“Not at all,” Campbell said.

Campbell then asked Donoshaytis why she would ask that question. “Is it because I’m Black?” he asked.

“Yes,” Donoshaytis said.

Donoshaytis then appeared to try and grab Campbell’s phone.

As part of her plea deal, Donoshaytis also had to attend an anti-racism class.
