DES PLAINES, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Des Plaines woman is charged with allegedly stealing more than $84,000 dollars from the business where she worked.
April Perez, 47 worked for Designer Direct, and Des Plaines Police said that in 2020 and 2021, she made 62 unauthorized transactions to accounts registered to her and a relative.
The illegal activity was discovered during a financial audit. The Daily Herald reported that the case took time to solve, because financial records needed to be subpoenaed and reviewed, according to police.
Des Plaines Police said Perez confessed to making the transfers this month. She is charged with Felony Theft.
