This weekend Audacy's Country Top 20 host Jesse Addy veers into the world of this year's Olympic Games with his special guest, gymnast and world champion weightlifter Katherine Nye.
While still officially called the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, this year's Olympics were postponed to 2021 and are taking place right now through August 8.

After the long postponement and finally getting to compete in the now 2021 Games, Kate gave us just a little taste of what it's like to go for glory on the world's stage.
Wondering what exactly goes through her mind as she prepares to perform after seeing her name in lights and dipping her hands in chalk, Kate tells Jesse that while it "depends on the lift," when it comes to her very first opening lift, "I literally pray to God, I'm not kidding. Not because I don't trust myself, but just because I'm a woman of faith. Usually, for openers, I think of that, just to get my head in the game for the first one. Then, usually the next two I'm just pumping myself up, like, 'Let's go! You got this, just like at home.' I just try to not make it too serious, keep it light, keep it fun, and I think that's how I thrive."
Music is a big part of the build up for many athletes, whether in training or competition-mode, Kate included. Now, as she prepares to take home the Gold, Kate shared with us a quick three-song playlist that gets her blood going. "I really like the song 'Lithium' by Nirvana, big Nirvana fan," Kate admits. As a Detriot native as well, Kate says she's "a big Eminem fan, so typically anything Eminem I really like to play... hometown hero. And I like "The Motto" by Drake."
We wish Kate the best of luck during all of her competitions and hope for nothing but wins as she chucks those weights around in Tokyo... Get that Gold!
