An event specially dedicated to heroic first responders and their families, with a heartfelt nod to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the night was an experience that’ll be held near and dear for many years to come.

Taking place at The Rooftop at Pier 17, with the 9/11 Tribute In Light beaming high into the skies above, the event was full of community, patriotism and the best of live music with performances by Caroline Jones, Jameson Rodgers, Tenille Arts, Chris Young, Lee Brice, Zac Brown and Darius Rucker.

Weren’t able to join us? We’ve got you covered! Check out some of the most noteworthy moments below.

Pre-Show Tribute

As Lee Brice stepped on the stage for a special pre-show performance, he took the opportunity to dedicate his song “I Drive Your Truck,” to all the victims of 9/11 and those who lost their lives that day. As he sang the emotional song to a crowd filled with first responders in front of the NYC skyline, it was a moment that struck a deep emotional chord. During the main show, Brice revisited the song as he played it a second time with tears streaming down his face showcasing the true power of music.

“Somebody Like That”

Tenille Arts lead quite the sing-along as the crowd joined her in belting out every word to her first #1 single, “Somebody Like That.” The song was included on Arts’ 2020 album, Love Heartbreak & Everything In Between and was the song she performed during an episode of Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor.

Spotlight on songwriting

Before he landed a career as an artist, Jameson Rodgers saw success as a songwriter and he proudly acknowledged those roots on the big stage Saturday night. Rodgers proudly covered, “I Don’t Know About You,” a song he wrote, ultimately recorded by Chris Lane, that hit #1 on the Country charts in 2019. Jameson was joined for the cover with the crowd as a choir, singing along word for word.

“God Bless The USA”

Zac Brown, Darius Rucker and Chris Young took the show up a notch in the second half as they joined forces for a rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “Good Bless The U.S.A.” from 1984.

Hootie!

Darius Rucker made the crowd go wild as he revisited his 90s roots by singing “Hold My Hand,” a song recorded by his previous Rock group, Hootie & The Blowfish. Darius made the shift to Country music is 2008, and while we love having him, we sure do love when he decides to throw it back for us!

All for a good cause

The fun night was made sweeter knowing a portion of the net proceeds from Audacy’s Stars and Strings Presented by Samsung Galaxy will benefit 9/11 Day, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that strives to “inspire Americans and others to do good deeds that help to create a better and more peaceful world.” We’re grateful to benefit a greater cause with the show and look forward to doing it all again in the near future. See ya then!
