Rook was laying curled up in a ball his first day at the shelter. His nerves were showing right on his sleeve. He didn't move much when we opened the door to leash him but allowed and slowly walked out.
He stuck close during our quick walk outside and remained pretty low energy off leash. It was hard to tell if it was first day jitters or just how Rook is. He allowed handling all over and gave little tail wags when we spoke softly to him. Rook showed off a sit on command and took treats gently.
Going back to his kennel was hard, he pancaked multiple times before we were able to convince him it wasn't a forever state of being. By his second time out, things were getting easier for Rook. He has more confidence and rushes to his favorite spot in the yard.
Rook is super smart, knows how to give both paws and really shines with praise. He's so quiet in his kennel he might get passed by if you're not looking for him.
