The FBI confirmed on Thursday that they paid a visit to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning. Recently the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia and the Southern Center for Human Rights sued Hill’s office for allegedly violating open records laws. The lawsuit states that the office has not responded to their attempts to obtain documents on coronavirus testing at the Clayton County Jail and whether anyone at the facility has the disease.
The FBI has provided very few details. However, according to Channel Two, an attorney stated that agents conducted a search warrant over allegations that Sheriff Victor Hill taunted a man who was brought in for harassing phone calls. , and it is still unclear exactly what items were taken from Hill’s office.
The investigation comes a day after Hill was re-elected as sheriff of Clayton County when he ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary election.
