Andre 3000 is known to live a pretty quiet life, but on Wednesday night he popped out at the Met Gala in a major way.
Andre 3000, one half of the Atlanta bred hip hop duo Outkast, popped out at the Met Gala with a piano strapped to his back and a trash bag in his hand. The look has many talking about what statement if any he was trying to make with his rare standout appearance.
It does also appear that the statement Andre was making was potentially promo for a new instrumental project that he dropped entitled 7 Piano Sketches. Andre says that, ‘It’s jokingly the worst rap album in history because there are no lyrics on it at all. It’s the best because it’s the free-est emotionally and best I’ve felt personally. It’s the best because it’s like a palette cleanser for me.’”
In addition to this, Andre is being honored with an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music during their 2025 commencement on May 10.
All of this comes after the big news that Dre and Big Boi are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a well-deserved moment for the duo that put Southern rap on the map all while earning six Grammys, and cementing a legacy that made sure Atlanta had a permanent seat at the hip-hop table.
