"If you like it, you better put a ring on it". Here's what I mean by that.
While most of us consider Jaguar to be a premium luxury marque, Jaguar is shooting for truly elite status in the coming years.
How elite? Oh…200-300K worth of "elite"…maybe even a little more.
Call it family rivalry if you like. Jag is part of the JLR group…with those last two letters standing for Land Rover. And Land Rover pretty much stands as the pinnacle of off-roading luxury…and Jaguar wants that same kind of status with their sedans and roadsters. Now…they're not just going to jack up the price from high fives / low sixes to 2-$300,000…they'll be introducing totally new vehicles…largely if not exclusively fully electric.

So…back to Beyonc'e…if you like the classic lines of today's Jag F-Type, you may just want to take it home while you can. And what'll you get if you do? Something that appears to me to be a true classic…British to the bones if you will. Soft leather surrounded by graceful curves…with a hungry animal hidden under the hood.

Jaguar's hardtop versions start in the mid to high $70's…and the convertibles only two thousand more. We tested the baby of the bunch…the P450 with a 5.0 liter, 444 HP V8 and a 9-speed auto. That'll get you to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds and up to 177 MPH if you can find a place to get away with that.

Need more? Jag's $113K R75 version punches out 575 HP…will get you to 60 a full second quicker…and will go 186 if you own your own racetrack.
But back to our P450 version. Personally I don't need more. Those 444 HP are delivered via a supercharger…not a turbo…and that means absolutely instant neck-snapping acceleration. Don't have that leather covered heated steering wheel pointed anywhere but straight ahead when you punch that pedal, or you'll have the rear end hanging out as those big gummy 20" 295 X 30 P Zeros in the rear fight a losing battle for traction.

With heated and cooled premium leather, upgraded Meridian sound, colored brake calipers and a couple of other touches, the window sticker on our "future classic" test P450 rose into the very low $90's.
Like I said…If you like it, put a ring on it and take it home while you can.
