Congratulations are in order for Quinta Brunson, who is now the first black woman in 40 years to win an Emmy in the category of best comedic actress. In a world where we have talented comedic actresses like Jasmine Guy, Tichina Arnold, Tisha Campbell, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, and the list goes on, why is it that no black actress have won in that category since
1981, where Isabel Sanford took home an Emmy for her role in The Jeffersons?

Brunson's win points out the same old issue that black creators have with these mainstream shows. They are just not for us. Watch as Armanda Seals speaks on this below.

Check out what Quinta said as she joined Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell on the red carpet.

Congratulations to Quinta, hopefully her win opens doors for more women of color to get awarded for all the the impact that their work has on not just our culture, but the world.
