Tuesday morning Braves general manager Alex Anthopolous joined The Steakhouse with an update on Ronald Acuña Jr. who has spent the last five days with the Gwinnett Stripers rehabbing his torn left ACL suffered last season.
When asked about a return for Acuña on Friday against the San Diego Padres, Anthopolous replied, “Is it a zero percent chance? No. Is it likely? I would say probably not.”
However, Anthopolous did lay out a scenario in which an early return is possible for the former MVP.
“Let’s say he plays seven innings, steals three bases, makes unbelievable diving plays in the outfield and he comes in and says, ‘I’m ready. I got to play, I’m ready to go.’ We’ll have a conversation.” Anthopolous said. “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
The Braves play a weekend series against the Padres before heading to Philadelphia midweek and returning to Truist Park to host the Red Sox on May 30th.
