
"Let's go Atlanta, let's go!" An extremely excited Andre Dickens shouts to a crowd that has packed The Gathering Spot in northwest Atlanta. It is filled with supporters, including celebrities and former mayors.
It was around 10:30pm est Tuesday night when the Associated Press declared Dickens the winner in the race against former Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore.
Dickens told his supporters there is no limit to the city of Atlanta. He said there would be "openness, transparency, no ceiling, and unlimited potential."
After Dickens was declared the winner, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia said in a statement: “On behalf of Georgia Democrats, I want to congratulate Atlanta Mayor-Elect Andre Dickens on a hard-won victory. Atlanta is the heartbeat of the Peach State, and I am confident that Mayor-Elect Dickens will continue the legacy of strong Democratic leadership in our state’s capital. Georgia Democrats look forward to working with Mayor-Elect Dickens to continue advancing opportunity, building equity, and making Atlanta a place where everyone can prosper, no matter their zip code or bank account.”
