"We needed to clean house," Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat tells the Big Tigger Morning Show on V103 in Atlanta. Jailers have been fired and other changes are being made at the county jail says Labat.

LaShawn Thompson had been locked up three months when he died in September 2022. His family has called for a criminal investigation and threatened to sue.

Labat calls the conditions inside the jail 'deplorable' and says he's been lobbying commissioners for funds to make changes including building a new facility. As for investigating what happened to Thompson, Labat says "we are certainly going to get to the bottom of what did and didn't happen, and hold those people accountable."
