Derek Carr’s availability for Sunday is still in question as he continues to be in concussion protocol and deal with a shoulder injury. Carr is currently listed as questionable on the Saints injury report. Now, you might think seeing Jameis Winston and/or Taysom Hill on Sunday would fare well for the Falcons, but earlier today The Morning Shift explained why that’s not necessarily the case.
Both Hill and Winston have fared well against the Falcons in their career. Hill has a passer rating of 122.2 with 702 yards and 4 touchdowns in 12 games versus the Falcons in his career, and Winston has a passer rating of 109.3 with 2,768 yards, 27 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 10 games against the Falcons in his career.
Jameis has had a very stereotypical season when he’s been in relief for Derek Carr. Winston has a passer rating of 56.0 with 223 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions appearing in 10 games this season, so with that being said Jameis could very well throw the Falcons the ball on more than one occasion if he does start on Sunday, but he has also shown the ability to carve up any team including the Falcons.
Taysom has always given the Falcons problems, and the Falcons have struggled all season with mobile quarterbacks, so the less Taysom the Falcons see on Sunday the better, and with Jameis Winston being a wild card the Saints getting Derek Carr back on Sunday might just give the Falcons the best chance to win.
