Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is asking the FBI for security as her investigation continues into former President Donald Trump.
In a letter to the Atlanta field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Willis asks for a risk assessment of her office and other buildings.
A special grand jury is to be seated on May 2 as Willis investigates Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
In a rally this past weekend Trump told supporters in Conroe, Texas, "These prosecutors are vicious, horrible people. They're racists and they're very sick, they're mentally sick." Trump, apparently referring to Willis, and two other prosecutors investigating him, said "They're going after me without any protection of my rights from the Supreme Courtormost other courts. In reality they're not after me, they're after you."
Trump is being investigated for his business practices by New York Attorney General Letiticia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr.
Like Willis, James and Bragg are black.
The requested risk assessment from Willis would include the courthouse where the grand jury would be seated.
