Atlanta police say that an officer has been shot multiple times in the line of duty.

The shooter is described as a gang member who had at least 1 warrant out on him. He was wanted or armed robbery and aggravated assault and was taken into custody.

The injured officer, who's name was not immediately released, is described as being in 'stable condition'. An APD deputy chief on the scene said the injuries are 'pretty serious' and that recovery 'will be a long road.'

The shooting happened at Colonial Square Apartments, located at Cleveland Avenue and Old Hapeville Road in southwest Atlanta.
