The judicial fight continues for an 8-year-old girl shot and killed near the Wendy's, where Rashard Brooks was shot and killed.

During a press conference on Monday, local attorneys announced that they had filed a lawsuit against Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Police Chief Rodney Bryant, Atlanta City Councilwoman Joyce Shepherd, and Wendy's.

The lawsuit comes nearly a year after Secoriea Turner was killed in the backseat of a car after a group of armed men outside the restaurant shot into the vehicle after protesters had occupied the parking lot for a month after Brooks' death.

The attorneys also stated that armed civilians were allowed to take over a public street without any resistance from police or city officials. They also shared a memo that proves law enforcement was prevented from safely restoring order to the area.

In a statement, the office of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued the following response:
"The murder of Secoriea Turner, as a result of senseless gun violence, is a tragedy that no family should have to endure. Due to the anticipated litigation, the city will offer no further comment at this time."

The Atlanta Police Department has not issued a statement.
