The Atlanta Falcons awarded arguably the greatest player in the team's franchise, Matt Ryan, the highest compliment by inducting him into the team's Ring of Honor. Ryan, who spent all but one of his 15 seasons in the NFL with the Falcons, becomes the 14th member of the prestigious club. However, after "Mr. Falcon," who is next to get the honor?
Chris Goforth shared his thoughts on who the obvious answer is, but also gave a few names from decades past that are also deserving.
Matt Ryan is Mr. Falcon and the greatest player in franchise history, but you can't tell his story without mentioning his running mate, Julio Jones. Jones was the missing link to unlock the offense after the Falcons traded away five draft picks to move up in the 2011 NFL Draft and select him 6th overall. During Jones' time in Atlanta he amassed 848 receptions, 12,896 receiving yards, and 60 touchdowns. His 95.5 receiving yards per game during his 10 years in Atlanta would rank 2nd most all-time behind only Justin Jefferson.
Goforth did bring up some names from the 90s mentioning the likes of Jamal Anderson, Andre Rison, and more.
