92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes and Bell for his regular appearance on the show and talked about what gives the Braves a major advantage over the Mets in their showdown for the division this weekend.
When asked about the Mets lineup compared to the Braves.
“I really like the lineup that they are trotting out there tonight, that has Ronald Acuña Jr. at the top, Dansby Swanson, you got Michael Harris batting third, Austin Riley in the cleanup spot who I actually like there a little bit more than batting third. You’re still able to have Matt Olson in a run producing spot, take a little bit of pressure off of him have him in the fifth spot in the order and even six through nine in the order, depending how you want to switch them out with Eddie Rosario coming on, Marcell Ozuna’s been hitting a little bit, both of your catchers can swing it, Robbie Grossman has made his contributions to this club, Vaughn Grissom, Orlando Arcia. You got depth and a very good lineup one thru nine,” McAuley said. “Pete Alonso’s knocking in seemingly every run that gets on base for him, he just a Mets record for most RBI in a season and he was the guy that swung the bat and got the big hit for them to try and get them back in against the Marlins last night. I think the Braves have the advantage when it comes to overall lineup construction one through nine.”
McAuley talked about how the Braves lineup needing to be at it’s best.
“As we’ve talked about time and again that the Braves lineup is the thing to watch, the aspect of this team to watch in this series, yea you got to deal with DeGrom, yea you gotta deal with Scherzer. I think the Braves starting pitchers are good enough at this point to make these games competitive right where they need to be, it’s just can Atlanta do the things that is has done when it’s at its best this year and can it do it at the most important time this season.”
