The Atlanta Falcons open up the second year of the Arthur Smith regime tonight when they take on the Detroit Lions in their first of three preseason games.
Former Pro Bowl DL Hugh Douglas discussed what he'll be looking for tonight and says that while some things do matter during preseason games, the final score isn't one of them, but his morning show co-host John Fricke explains that with this team and this staff, things are different, things are desperate, and they actually do matter this year.
"I don't need to win it, I need to see execution, for me that is the biggest thing," says Hugh Douglas. "We are going to over-analyze everything that we see. The Lions are going to be trying to win this game, it's more important to execute well as opposed to winning. The measuring stick is the first couple of drives."
"I think it's really important that they win this game. You have to prove to me that you can win with Mariota or Ridder paying QB," explains John Fricke. "I want them to finish strong, execute down the stretch, and win the game. Everybody in the NFL says the Falcons suck. You got to prove them wrong, and it starts tonight."
In addition to winning or losing the actual game, on Thursday night Jon Chuckery provided his top 4 things to look for as the Falcons open the preseason in Detroit.
