The Slipknot frontman took part in an interview on Knotfest.com and explained why he thinks Metallica’s 1986 record Master of Puppets is “the perfect heavy metal album.”

“There's no fat," Taylor said. "I mean, you can put it on and listen to the… The only bad thing I can say is that it's too short. Before you know it, it's over, and you're, like, 'Wait a minute,' and you've gotta start it over again. So, it's crazy. It's just a beautiful, beautiful album."

It goes without saying, but Corey Taylor is a massive Metallica fan. He’s one of many artists that are set to appear on The Metallica Blacklist, an extensive project celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Black Album.

Taylor contributed his take on “Holier Than Thou” as he’s one of over 50 musicians ranging from genres like Country, Hip Hop, Electronic, Rock, and more taking part in the celebration.

All profits from The Metallica Blacklist will be split 50/50 between Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and the charity of the performers’ choice. The complete set of songs will be released digitally on September 10 with physical formats to follow on October 1.
