As we prepare for our 2021 broadcast, we're listening back to some of our 2020 all-star guests whose mental health wisdom has continued to ring true as we surge forward.

During last year's special, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor opened up about the importance of ending the stigma surrounding conversations involving mental health issues. He also opened up about some of his personal challenges with mental health.

“I’ve been a massive advocate for a very long time of trying to get people to understand that we need to lift that stigma, you know?” Taylor states. “It’s important for people to get help. When people feel like they can’t get any help, that’s when they isolate and that’s when they hurt themselves. For me, I have been a massive advocate of telling people ‘find what works.’”

Taylor continues on to share his support for individuals finding what works best for them. Whether it’s medicine, therapy or a combination of both, Taylor believes judgement and shame should never be a factor.

“There’s nothing wrong with admitting you need help,” he says. “In fact, if you don’t admit that you need help, you’re actually making the problem worse… I feel like the more we talk about it, the more people don’t feel like they have to hide it.”

Be a part of the conversation, submit your own I'm Listening mental health story. Use your words to continue the conversation around the importance of mental health.
