The Bruins have announced that head coach Bruce Cassidy has entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols.

Cassidy, who is vaccinated, was not on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate and will not be available for Tuesday night's game against the Red Wings.

General manager Don Sweeney told the media that Cassidy is experiencing mild symptoms but "feeling overall fine." Sweeney said assistant coach Joe Sacco will take over primary coaching duties until Cassidy returns.

The news comes in the midst of a busy 24 hours for the Bruins, who on Monday saw star winger Brad Marchand suspended for three games and fellow left wing Jake DeBrusk request a trade.
