Bruins’ Winter Classic jersey reportedly leaks

The Bruins will officially unveil their jerseys for this year’s Winter Classic on Friday, but it appears one store jumped the gun and accidentally leaked them a few days early.

On Monday evening, UniWatch shared a photo taken by one of their readers at a store in Canada that shows what is almost certainly the Bruins’ official Winter Classic jersey.

The jersey features a custom BOSTON typeface and what the Bruins officially refer to as the “Boston Bear logo,” but what many fans affectionately refer to as “meth bear.” The Bruins had unveiled the custom logo earlier this month.

The “Boston Bear” was used as a secondary logo that appeared on the shoulders of the Bruins’ jerseys from 1976-95. This is the first time it will appear on the front of a Bruins jersey.

The rest of the jersey is black with yellow stripes and yellow shoulders. The yellow-on-black without any trim in between is reminiscent of the jerseys the Bruins wore for the 2016 Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium, although those featured a very different main crest.

The 2023 Winter Classic between the Bruins and Penguins is set for Monday, Jan. 2 at Fenway Park. It’s a day later than the usual Jan. 1 date so it doesn’t conflict with NFL football. The Penguins’ jerseys have not yet leaked.
