Did Tom Brady actually take a shot at Patriots fans in his new ad?

It’s the question that’s being asked in sports radio studios everywhere: Did Tom Brady take a shot at Patriots fans?

TB12 and Gisele Bundchen are starring in a new ad for a cryptocurrency exchange, part of the platform’s $20 million marketing campaign. The ad was released Wednesday, and features Brady and Bundchen phoning various acquaintances and asking them to join the platform.

One of those acquittances is Jets super fan Fireman Ed, who has Brady saved on his phone as “worst person ever.” The other calls aren’t noteworthy (at least for our purposes), but then Brady dials up a Patriots fan.

“This last one might be tough,” Brady says.

“Nah, he loves you,” Gisele replies.

As it turns out, Brady was right. The unnamed Pats fan — who’s standing behind the “BAH” and has a wicked Boston accent — changed Brady’s contact on his phone to “traitor.”

“First, even if you wanted to come back, we wouldn’t take ya,” he says.

“Yes you would,” Brady replies.

The fan begrudgingly agrees.

What does this all mean? Does Brady really think Patriots fans aren’t in his corner?

Or was he actually taking a shot at the organization in the ad’s final 30 seconds, using the bartender Patriots fan as a conduit to express his feelings towards Bill Belichick?

These are the questions that Aristotle used to ponder.

Of course, it’s foolish to draw any significant meaning from a cryptocurrency commercial. Brady, a red-eyed crypto devotee himself, clearly wants to be affiliated with the exploding world of digital currency. All of the cool kids are doing it: Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, Dave Portnoy.

Brady wants to be with his bros.

But we also know that Brady approved every line he said. So there must have been some sort of reasoning for his call to Boston.

It’s easy to imagine Brady fantasizing about phoning Bill Belichick and having him grovel, but that's never going to happen. So Brady did the next best thing: he used a stand-in.

When Brady returns to Gillette Stadium Oct. 4, he’ll probably receive a roaring reception. If there is any bitterness, it will involve BB.

We’ve seen a more unfiltered version of Brady since he moved to Tampa Bay. This summer, he called out an unnamed team for sticking with a “mother—“ at quarterback instead of signing him in free agency.

Then he performed a stand-up routine at the White House.

We all understand why Brady would hold a grudge towards Belichick. He didn’t extend Brady and then let him go in free agency.

Brady wound up winning the Super Bowl, and the Patriots went 7-9.

So yeah, Belichick probably wishes Brady would come back. Just like any beer-drinking Patriots super fan.
