The New England Patriots were busy on Tuesday. After signing Marcus Jones to a three-year extension and trading defensive end Keion White to the San Francisco 49ers, they pulled off a second trade of the night, reportedly sending safety Kyle Dugger to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots are getting a sixth-round pick back while also sending a seventh-round pick to Pittsburgh.
The Patriots drafted Dugger in the second round in 2020. He emerged as a full-time starter in 2021 and signed a four-year extension before the 2024 season, but it became clear during training camp that he was going to have a reduced role in new coach Mike Vrabel's system.
Dugger appeared in seven games this season, playing 38% of the defensive snaps. In his six years in Foxboro, he made 81 appearances and 69 starts.
