Adam Schefter disparaged Dwayne Haskins’ NFL career before reporting his death Saturday.

The tweet was as bad as the description.

On Saturday morning, Schefter reported the tragic news that Haskins died after getting hit by a car in South Florida. The quarterback was just 24 years old.

But Schefter introduced quite the weird caveat at the start of his tweet: Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida.”

Schefter, who quickly deleted his offensive eulogy, was rightfully excoriated for his utter lack of awareness and sensibility.

“You gotta do better @AdamSchefter!!! This is wild!! A MAN lost his life!!,” tweeted former Steelers cornerback Joe Haden.

ESPN recently re-signed Schefter to a five-year deal worth roughly $9 million annually.

Amazingly, Schefter’s distasteful words weren’t the worst thing said about Haskins in the aftermath of his death. Cowboys Hall of Famer and NFL analysts Gil Brandt said Haskins was “living to be dead.”

Classy football men.
