“It’s very important to me that we make the playoffs."

That's what Patriots owner Robert Kraft told media at the 2023 NFL owner's meeting back in March when asked about Bill Belichick and his job as his security as the team's head coach.

That dream of a postseason berth died in Week 14 of the 2023 season, as the Cincinnati Bengals 34-14 over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday mathematically eliminated New England from playoff contention.

At 3-10, the Patriots are in last place in the AFC and are primed for a top-five draft pick this coming April. This is the sixth time New England will miss the playoffs in the Bill Belichick era.

So what does the head coach's future hold? Will Kraft actually part ways with the greatest coach of all time? While it remains to be determined, his words on Saturday's College GameDay at Gillette Stadium may indicate that he's ready for a change.

"We like to win," Kraft explained when asked about his football team. "So we want to do everything we can to get our team back so we can be winning."

"I don’t envy your position, what’s about to happen," responded analyst Pat McAfee. "We all know. We don’t have to ask."

Kraft didn't say respond. Instead, he just smiled and shook the former punter's hand.
