3 critically hurt after car crashes into SW Side bus shelter: CFD
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A car crashed into a Southwest Side bus shelter Sunday afternoon resulting in several people injured, including a CTA employee.
Chicago Fire Deputy District Chief Curtis Hudson said crews responded at around 4:15 p.m. to a two-car accident at 16th and Kedzie, with one of the vehicles skidding into a bus shelter. There were seven total victims, three of whom were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
Two women were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, one is a CTA employee, while another woman was sent to Saint Anthony Hospital. One woman refused treatment, and a mother and her two children walked away from the scene without being seen.
The driver of the car, a 42-year-old man, was given several citations, including failure to produce a driver's license as well as operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
