(670 The Score) The Bears have made another trade to bolster their offensive line, as they're set to acquire three-time Pro Bowl guard Joe Thuney in a trade with the Chiefs, a source confirmed Wednesday morning. The NFL Network first reported the news.
The Bears will send a fourth-round pick back to the Chiefs, according to NFL Network. The deal can't become official until the start of the new league year at 3 p.m. CT on March 12.
Thuney, 32, is a nine-year NFL veteran who has earned three Pro Bowl selections and who has twice earned first-team All-Pro honors. He's a four-time Super Bowl champion who played his first five NFL seasons with the Patriots and the last four with the Chiefs.
Thuney projects to slot in at left guard, his longtime position, which would shift new Bears acquisition Jonah Jackson to right guard. The Bears struck a deal with the Rams to land Jackson on Tuesday, sending a sixth-round pick to Los Angeles for him.
The Bears pledged to be aggressive this offseason as they aimed to improve their offensive line. They have made two deals before the start of the new league year that help accomplish just that goal.
