'A labor of love:' Old Town Art Fair, Chicago summer staple, carries on this weekend

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The ribbon has officially been cut on this weekend’s Old Town Art Fair.

With live music and a whole lot of sunshine, volunteers and artists gathered to kick off the annual art fair.

Alderman Timmy Knudsen was among the local politicians on hand.

“I’m just excited to have some fun this weekend,” he told the crowd. “Let’s celebrate local artists, get our friends to buy some things and feel grateful for the community that we live in and how we all come out to support.”

Ald. Brian Hopkins voiced a similar sentiment.

“This is a labor of love,” Hopkins said. “You bring this to life every year because you love your neighborhood and you know how much people value this event.”

Jane King is one of many different artists who will have their work on display throughout the weekend.

“I’m thrilled that the Old Town Triangle has created this program to promote arts in the city.”
