THORNTON TOWNSHIP (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard has been denied an opportunity to be on the April election ballot after the Democratic Party held a rare caucus Tuesday night.
Illinois State Senator Napoleon Harris, who’s the Thornton Township Democratic committeeman, called for a caucus, a first in decades.
“This is a process that’s been going on way before me, and I’m exercising my right as a committeeman to hold a caucus,” Harris said.
Henyard had bussed supporters to the auditorium where it was held. They were late, and many couldn’t get in.
The place was packed, and, when they voted, they supported Harris for township supervisor.
Henyard was furious.
"You didn't run none of this the right way. Illegal, Napoleon,” she said.
CBS News Chicago reported that the caucus was a first in about 30 years.
Henyard, who was appointed to the $224,000 a year job two years ago, has butted heads with trustees from the beginning.
Her detractors sent her off singing the song, “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.”
Henyard said she would file a lawsuit.
