Lightfoot tapped to investigate embattled Dolton mayor

DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been hired by the Dolton Village Board to investigate alleged wrongdoing by Mayor Tiffany Henyard, including allegations that she misused village funds.

The former mayor, a former federal prosecutor, addressed the trustees and citizens who packed a village board meeting.

“As someone who’s made good governance the cornerstone of my public service career, I recognize maintaining a trust of those you serve, and making decisions in their best interest is absolutely essential,” Lightfoot said. “The residents of Dolton deserve nothing less than a government that is fully accountable, responsive, transparent and effective stewards of your precious tax dollars.”

Mayor Henyard was not present.

Lightfoot urged the embattled mayor and her staff to cooperate.

She’s being paid $400 dollars an hour.
