CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Orland Park officials said they may move to take away the business license of a popular trampoline park after it greatly violated capacity limits over the weekend.
Capacity of the Sky Zone in Orland Park is 260, but Mayor Keith Pekau said there were hundreds more people inside than there should have been Saturday night. He said acts like that, that jeopardize the public health, safety and welfare have no business being in the village. Still, Sky Zone was back open Sunday.
A man told CBS 2, “We’ve had a lot of memories since my son was little – was really little, but you know, if it’s got to go, it’s got to go."
The Sky Zone trampoline park's website said it has a "glow" dance party on Saturday nights. And on this Saturday night, Orland Park Police said they were called to the Sky Zone, because of a fight. That’s when they found the place over-filled with children. Everyone was ordered outside where there were reports of small skirmishes, and other police departments were called in to help make sure someone picked up all the children.
Sky Zone was cited for a number of violations, including reckless conduct and a fire code occupancy violation. The mayor said police arrested three young people for fighting.
On Sunday night, the village said it is in the process of revoking the business license at Sky Zone.
