HAMMOND, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Nearly two dozen law enforcement agencies and other search teams are still looking for a missing 12-year-old boy with autism from Kansas City, Missouri, who ran off from a Northwest Indiana hotel Saturday afternoon.
Kyrin Carter, 12, was with his family at the Best Western at 179th and Cline Avenue in Hammond on Saturday when police said he ran away from the hotel around 12:35 p.m.
More than 20 law enforcement agencies are taking part in the search. His mom, Danielle Duckworth, told CBS 2 that she hopes he can hear a familiar voice and come back.
"Hopefully, he will grasp onto voices that he remembers," she said.
Duckworth added that she is trying to retrace his steps.
"I've been everywhere trying to look for this boy. I can only try to understand his footsteps, where he will go," she said.
Surveillance video showed Kyrin was barefoot and wearing a light blue t-shirt and black basketball shorts with a white stripe down the side. He is about 5-foot-4 and 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police said because Kyrin is scared and could flee, anyone who sees him should call 911 and keep him in their sights instead of approaching him.
He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance, state police said.
