Portion of O'Hare's Terminal 1 shuts down due to bomb threat, TSA says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A portion of Terminal 1 at O’Hare International Airport was temporarily shutdown this morning due to a bomb threat.

TSA Great Lakes said their agency was alerted a little after 6 a.m. that a passenger at Terminal 1 informed an airline employee behind the counter that they had a bomb in their bag. The passenger then fled the scene.

Chicago police officers were able to clear the area, TSA said, and passengers from both the first and second security checkpoints at Terminal 1 were moved to Checkpoint 3. The investigation did not severely impact screening operations, TSA said.

The suspicious bag was cleared by 6:50 a.m. and the terminal was fully re-opened soon thereafter.
