CHICAGO (670 The Score) — In a season full of boos for the Bears, frustration from the fans boiled over Thursday at Soldier Field as Chicago lost 6-3 in ugly fashion to the visiting Seattle Seahawks.
Late in the fourth quarter, fans at Soldier Field chanted “sell the team,” a message directed at team chairman George McCaskey and his family’s ownership group. It marked the first time in recent years that chant was heard audibly inside Soldier Field, and it came at the end of the Bears’ 10th consecutive loss and in a game in which they had just 179 yards of offense.
The Halas-McCaskey family has owned the Bears dating back to 1920, when George Halas founded the franchise. He was the grandfather of George McCaskey, who took over as chairman in 2011
Elsewhere in Chicago, chants of “sell the team” have become commonplace at Rate Field as White Sox fans have voiced their displeasure toward longtime chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.
The Bears fell to 4-12 with their loss Thursday and will visit the Packers in their season finale on Jan. 5. They’ll head into the offseason seeking a new head coach after firing Matt Eberflus on Nov. 29.
McCaskey has previously stated he has no intention to sell the Bears.
