Shooting on Northwestern's Chicago campus forces lockdown
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A shooting on Northwestern's Streeterville campus Monday night sent students into a brief lockdown.
The active threat alert came just before 9 p.m., warning students to take shelter and barricade doors after a shooting outside Wiebolt Hall near Chicago Avenue and Fairbanks.
Students like business school student Jake Sherman spoke to CBS-2.
"It was pretty confusing at first and then pretty scary. We were all just kind of hunkered down, waiting for some news, and I think not knowing is the scariest part," Sherman said.
The all clear came about half an hour later, telling students that people were in custody.
However, Chicago police said there have been no arrests after officers responded to a call, and a witness told them a woman pulled out a gun and fired a shot following several people fighting in the street.
"It was just a stressful experience…Glad that everything turned out ok, but ya, just a little shaken," said student Katherine Heinlen.
No one was reported injured.
