Surveillance images released in shooting of off-duty Chicago police officer
Police on Tuesday released a slew of images they hope will lead them to suspects wanted in connection with the shooting of an off-duty police officer earlier this week.
Authorities found a vehicle — a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross — they believe was involved in the ambush. It was found abandoned near 92nd Street and Williams Avenue, according to Chicago police spokesman Tom Ahern.
Two gunman exited the Mitsubishi on Monday afternoon and shot at the off-duty Chicago police officer, who was stopped at a traffic light at 89th Street and Stony Island Avenue.
Three police officers found their colleague shot in his lower abdomen and transported him via squad car to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

The wounded officer — 32 years old and a four-year veteran of CPD — is reportedly doing well after surgery.
It's possible the suspect who wounded him were attempting a carjacking, police said.
Images released Tuesday include pictures of two suspects; details about their clothing; and the recovered vehicle.
